Black Friday FAQs

When is Black Friday?

Black Friday is a loose term these days. Originally, it was a single-day event the day after Thanksgiving – so November 25th this year. Scenes of long early morning queues and flying elbows were not uncommon outside the doors of big retailers.

Then it became the Black Friday to Cyber Monday event – basically the whole weekend after Thanksgiving. And the sales took to the online world too so you can shop at home (or the office, we won’t tell the boss!) in a much less intense environment.

Now, for many retailers, it is a month-long event with offers kicking off at the start of November and then bleeding into pre-Christmas sales.

So, you can bag yourself a bargain several weeks in advance, before the delivery services get overrun.

Black Friday Sale

Is Black Friday Only in the US?

Black Friday may have started in the US in response to the shopping rush after Thanksgiving, but global companies, capitalism, and the power of marketing have taken this event worldwide.

Now, you will see Black Friday deals in many countries around the world across almost every product you can imagine. With the cost of living crisis hitting globally, retailers will be keen to try and entice customers into spending with some great deals.

Are Black Friday Coffee Deals Worth It?

Retailers know a thing or two about psychology. Specifically the psychology behind making you part with your hard-earned cash.

Frustratingly, this means it’s fairly common practice for the price of some products to creep up a couple of months before Black Friday. Doing so means retailers can advertise an artificially large discount and hopefully drive sales.

It’s an age-old trick that works on our FOMO and we’re all guilty of falling into it. When a deal is for a “limited time only”, it drives the urge to impulse buy.

This means it can be really hard to separate the truly good deals from the truly good marketing.

The best thing we can advise is to do your research before the big sales hit. So have in your mind what your favorite coffee maker (or grinder, beans, kettle) is and what it would usually cost. That way you won’t be swayed by the shiny thing you don’t need or a ‘saving’ of only $2.

As my mom likes to say “It’s only a bargain if you needed it anyway.” Words to live by when shopping the Black Friday’s best coffee maker deals.

What About Cyber Monday?

Where Black Friday started in brick-and-mortar stores, Cyber Monday was the invention of online retailers. They wanted to cut through the noise of Black Friday deals and have their own day the following Monday.

Nowadays, they all run into each other and it’s more of a “Most-of-November Sale”. Deals start online and in-store well before Black Friday and last until well after Cyber Monday.

Coffee Maker Deals for Black Friday

Bodum Chambord French press Black Friday coffee maker deal

Bodum Chambord French Press

When it comes to classic coffee makers, you would be hard pressed to find anything more iconic than a Bodum Chambord French press coffee maker.

Think lazy Sunday mornings, sipping delicious coffee, and watching the world go by. That’s where French press coffee makers excel.

Of all the coffee styles out there, French press is up there as the easiest to make. As they are built to last a lifetime, even paying full price is a bargain for the Bodum Chambord. But when Black Friday offers a serious chunk off, it’s an offer that’s too good to resist.

The Ninja DualBrew offers the ultimate in easy coffee with maximum flexibility to suit your lifestyle.

You can choose to use pre-ground coffee or K-cup coffee pods. With the ground coffee, you can choose to brew in 9 different sizes from a small cup to full 12-cup carafe. Or, with the coffee pods, you can choose from 4 different sizes (6 to 12oz). So there really is something for everyone.

It really couldn’t be simpler and should keep the whole family happy too.

Discounted Mr. Coffee 2129512, 5-Cup Mini Brew Switch Coffee Maker, Black

Mr Coffee 5-Cup Mini Brew

If you’re looking for a bargain priced, no-fuss coffee maker then this mini brewer from Mr Coffee has you covered.

It will make two 12-oz cups of coffee, perfect to get some much-needed caffeine into your system in the morning. Plus, all you need to do is flick a button – nothing complicated here.

At just 7.3 x 9.9 x 10.7 inches it will fit into even the smallest of kitchen spaces.

Don’t expect the greatest cup of coffee you’ve ever had in your life. But for such a low price, we can’t say no!

takeya cold brew coffee maker

Takeya Cold Brew Coffee Maker

The patented design of the Takeya cold brew coffee maker has gained cult status in the cold brewing world (if that’s not a place, we are petitioning for it to be.)

Despite it’s large size (2 quarts), it’s portable. So you can keep enjoying your cold brew no matter where you are. Um, yes please!

To ensure it survives life on the road, it is made of plastic. So not the most premium of experiences. But it also doesn’t come with a premium price tag, so we have to take the wins where we get them.

As long as you want the full 2 quarts, you don’t need to measure your ratio separately. Simply fill the mesh grounds basket, fill up with water, and you’re good to go.

Bodum Pour Over Coffee Maker

Bodum Pour Over Coffee Maker

It looks like a Chemex, works kinda like a Chemex, but it’s made by Bodum. If you want an easy way to start making pour over this could be for you.

While the permanent filter will allow a small amount of sediment into the brew, it’s still clear and bright. You also don’t have to buy filters all the time, which is a bonus.

More forgiving than a Hario V60, the easy to follow instructions will have you drinking beautifully aromatic pour over in no time. It’s also really cheap so you can have it as an occasional treat brewing method, rather than your every day, if you don’t fancy the work each morning.

Cheap, easy to use, easy to clean, looks good, delicious coffee. This is an absolute winner for anyone wanting to drink pour over coffee.

Braun Brew Sense Drip Coffee Maker (KF7000BK)

Braun BrewSense KF7000 Drip Coffee Maker

The Braun BrewSense is a feature packed drip coffee maker.

With a 24-hour programmable timer, you can make sure your coffee is freshly brewed for when you roll out of bed in the morning.

The dishwasher-safe carafe can hold up to 12 cups. But you can also brew smaller amounts if that’s just a little too much caffeine.

While it is more expensive for a drip coffee machine, being able to pick it up in the sales makes it great value. Paying a little extra for a trusted brand with high build quality and better coffee is always a good thing in our opinion.

Espresso Machine Black Friday Offers

Breville Barista Touch Automatic Espresso Machine

Breville Barista Touch

It’s not often you see one of Breville’s automatic espresso machines hit the sales. So this is kind of a big deal. And is well worth buying straight away in case the discounts go away.

The Breville Barista Touch is perfect if you want the espresso making process to be as simple and consistent as possible, whilst still being personalized to you.

Alongside the pre-programmed drinks, you can also create your own custom coffees and save them to the machine. There are 8 drinks slots to save your delicious coffee creations so they’re always available at the touch of a button

You do have to tamp the grounds yourself, and the portafilter is 54mm (not the professional 58mm). But these are all things that we are willing to overlook for such an incredible machine. Even more so at the awesome Cyber Monday discount!

If tamping is just too much work, check out the newest Breville model – the Barista Express Impress – which you can also snap up for a knocked down price.

Keurig K-Mini Espresso Coffee Maker

Keurig K-Mini

The name Keurig is synonymous with top-quality coffee makers, available at the touch of a button. And the K-Mini is the compact, hard-hitter in their range that won’t disappoint.

This is the ideal single serve coffee companion who want consistently delicious coffee at the touch of a button. But who also don’t have loads of space to give up for a coffee maker. Mini really does mean Mini – it’s less than 5″ wide.

The only downside is that the water reservoir can only hold enough water for 1 cup – it’s mini after all. So, if you need something that’s a little bigger you should look to the Keurig K-Elite (also reduced for Black Friday) – check it out here.

With an insane number of pod options to choose from, you’re bound to find a coffee variety you absolutely love. If you’ve not already found ‘The One’.

Mr Coffee One-Touch Coffee House

If you’re just starting out on your home espresso making journey, the Mr. Coffee One-Touch Coffee House is a great choice.

Not only is it affordable (extra so in the Black Friday sale), it is super simple to use. As a first automatic espresso machine, all you need to practice is grinding your coffee beans (separately) and tamping in the portafilter. The machine will take care of the rest for you.

The price was inflated just before Black Friday to make the coffee maker deal seem better. So whilst the percentage discount isn’t quite as big as it first appears, it is still a bargain.

De'Longhi Stilosa Manual Espresso Machine

De’Longhi Stilosa

The De’Longhi Stilosa is a really solid budget espresso machine option. My parents have been using their for years without any problems.

Throughout the year, you can pick up this budget-friendly machine at various discounts just like this Black Friday coffee maker deal. A cheeky discount just makes the deal a little sweeter.

It’s a manual machine so you do need to grind, weigh, tamp, and time your shots. But it’s pretty easy to get a solid espresso from it. The foaming wand also works well and whilst it has a single boiler, the time from coffee to milk isn’t too long at all.

Overall, this is a great budget espresso machine option.

Although you do need to buy a separate portafilter for the capsules which is annoying – we would like to see it included as standard.

For your peace of mind, it also has an auto-shutoff feature after 15 mins, protects from overheating, and an auto pressure relief.

It’s a compact, simple to use and clean machine made by De’Longhi so you know the build quality will be superb.

Nespresso VertuoPlus Coffee and Espresso Machine by De'Longhi with Milk Frother (Aeroccino), Grey

Nespresso VertuoPlus + Aeroccino3

As the smallest (and newest) machine in the Vertuo line, the VertuoPlus should fit into even the smallest of spaces in your kitchen. It’s just 5.5 inches wide.

Being easy-to-use is the number one priority for Nespresso. And they nail it every time.

The Vertuo line of coffee makers will only take the Nespresso Vertuo capsules which is a little annoying as you’re tied in. However, where they excel is in the capsule design:

Each capsule has a barcode which the machine will read and adapt the brewing parameters to fit. This means minimal effort from you for maximum coffee quality.

For the ultimate in top value, when you buy the Nespresso Black Friday deal from Breville (the manufacturer) directly it includes a tasting box of Vertuo capsules to get you started.

If you love your milky espresso drinks, nabbing this combo deal with the Aeroccino is not to be missed.

With 8 pre-programmed coffee options and a 3-second heat up time, the distance between you and your first sip of the good stuff just got shorter.

The Creatista Pro is a touchscreen operated machine from Nespresso – the only in their line-up of great single serve coffee machines. But the touchscreen is on the top which is a little awkward, particularly if you were planning to sit the machine underneath some kitchen cupboards.

But we can overlook that for the auto-milk frother, quick espresso brewing, and dedicated hot water spout. And with a huge discount for Black Friday, how can you resist?

Well, if you love an iced coffee or cold brew when the summer months rolls around, just adding regular ice is a mugs game. It will dilute your great tasting cup of coffee, changing the flavor, and ruining all your hard work. But by adding whiskey rocks straight from the freezer, you get the same chilling benefits with none of the downsides.
